The Dean of the School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering

CEOI am really happy to have the establishment of this center in Iizuka campus with faculties who are globally active the LSI Research. This the School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, will be 27 years this year and is set in the land of Iizuka, located in the heart of northern Kyushu. Education and research advanced on LSI is carried out as the core of the the School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering for about 30 years. In addition, for Center for Microelectronic System is founded in Iizuka campus in 1990, we have built up a track record over 20 years as a semiconductor LSI technology development facility capable of manufacturing the LSI. It seems also inevitable that this center to perform cutting-edge research of LSI in Iizuka campus, but it can be said to be a gift to the efforts of faculty who have made the past achievements more than anything. In the future, I am looking forward to seeing the development and improvement of this center.

Hiroshi Ochi
The Director of Dependable Integrated Systems Research Center

CEO As technology continues to reach every corner of society and industry, the vulnerability of integrated system infrastructure is becoming an increasingly serious challenge. In addition to manufacturing defects, communication security issues and design errors, malfunctions of integrated circuits due to deterioration and aging not only result in a major problem for industry and society, but can even threaten human lives. For this reason, worldwide research and development of advanced information systems for next-generation information technology has shifted focus from mere performance and function towards dependability and security. By leveraging the strong synergy effects obtained by international cooperation and coordination, researchers in wireless communication, high-performance memory, highly reliable LSI technology and LSI test, work together in this center to create the basic technologies for the next generation of highly-reliable integrated systems, and apply them to a wide range of fields like automotive, aerospace, and medical equipment. In addition, this center puts emphasis on advanced training and education of students in global competency and excellence as a strong foundation for future world-class high-impact research and development spreading from Asia around the world. Please join us in bringing our information society to the next level by working together on advanced technologies to design and test of highly dependable LSI.
